The Egg Bowl will not be on Thanksgiving Day in 2024.
The rivalry game between Mississippi State and Ole Miss has become a Thanksgiving tradition for may fans in the Magnolia State and beyond. The game has been played on Thanksgiving 23 times, including from 1998 to 2003, in 2013, and from 2017 to 2023.
On Thursday, the two teams discovered that the Battle for the Golden Egg will occur on Black Friday instead. The Southeastern Conference announced the time and TV schedule for conference teams, setting the Egg Bowl for 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 29 on ABC.
The Egg Bowl will be played at Ole Miss’ football stadium Vaught-Hemingway Stadium this year.
This is the first time Ole Miss and MSU will play on a Friday since 2008 and only the fifth time in the game’s history.
Overall, the Rebels boast a 65-46-6 lead over the Bulldogs and won the most recent contest, 17-7.
