Police say a Mississippi teen took his family hostage before he decided to shoot and kill himself.

WLBT in Jackson reports that police received a 911 call from a woman who said she and her children were being held hostage by her 18-year-old son, who had two guns.

Police responded to the hostage situation on King Ranch Road in Canton shortly after 4:30 p.m. Friday.

When officers arrived at the scene and were able to gain access to the house, they found the 18-year-old male with a gunshot wound to the head.

Police say they have not identified a motive in the incident, which remains under investigation.
