An inmate at a Mississippi county jail was found dead Saturday afternoon.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of Kenneth Bennett, 36, of Blue Springs.

Bennett was an inmate at the Union County Jail. He was found dead by a detention officer at approximately 4 p.m.

A preliminary investigation suggests Bennett died from an apparent suicide.

He was being held at the Union County Jail for the Mississippi Department of Corrections on a commercial burglary and grand larceny charges.
