A Florida child visiting family in Mississippi was killed in a crash involving an ATV.

WLOX News in Biloxi reports that the 11-year-old boy was killed when the ATV struck a utility pole while attempting to avoid another vehicle.

Officials with the Moss Point Police report that the accident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday on Griffin Street.

The child, who was visiting family in Moss Point, was taken to a hospital in Pascagoula. He later died from his injuries.
