Mississippi volunteer firefighters save life of 2-year-old who nearly drowned in swimming pool

Two Mississippi volunteer firefighters are being lauded for their heroic actions which saved a 2-year-old who nearly drowned in a swimming pool.

WLBT News in Jackson reports that the firefighters from the Culkin Fire Department answered the call to save a toddler from drowning at the Pecan Ridge Apartments pool.

Firefighters Karl McCaffery and Hayden McDougal were the first to respond shortly after 7 p.m. Monday after receiving a call to help Genesis White, 2, who was found on the deck of the swimming pool lifeless.

The firefighters, who say they were only doing their job, went into action to save the life of the child who was resuscitated on the scene.

The 2-year-old was transported to a Jackson hospital for treatment and has since returned home with family.
