One person is dead after officials say a domestic situation turned into an abduction before ending with gunshots.
WLBT reports that an altercation between a man and his estranged wife began shortly after midnight on Father’s Day.
Adams County deputies were called to a home on Carmel Church Road about a “frantic female.”
Randell Jones, the son of the woman, told officials that an altercation between his mother, Tawana Jones, and stepfather, Calvin Carter, was occurring.
At some point in the altercation, Carter reportedly forced Tawana Jones from her home at gunpoint, and then took her in a vehicle down Shieldsboro Road. Randrell Jones reportedly followed, keeping dispatchers informed of the incident.
Soon afterward, multiple gunshots were heard over the phone. When deputies arrived they found Carter suffering from gunshot wounds and Tawana Jones suffering from multiple broken bones, bruises, and cuts.
Both Carter and Tawana Jones were transported to the hospital.
Carter later succumbed to the injuries sustained in the incident. Tawana Jones was released from the hospital.
Adams County Sheriff Travis Patten said that no arrests have been made at this time.
