Mississippi woman charged with murder of 2-year-old daughter who officials say was ‘forcibly drowned’

A Mississippi woman has been charged with murder after officials believe she forcibly drowned her 2-year-old child.
WTOK in Meridian reports that Adrienne McDevitt was arrested Wednesday morning in Lauderdale County.
Lauderdale County deputies and emergency responders received a call about a disturbance on Bolen Long Creek Road. After arriving on the scene, officials began working on a death investigation.
Adrienne McDevitt is accused of killing her daughter Kelly McDevitt Jr.
Lauderdale County Sheriff Ward Calhoun said that his office believes the child was killed by being “forcibly drowned.”
Adrienne McDevitt is being treated at a local hospital and is in the custody of the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office.
The case remains under investigation.
