Police are investigating a deadly shooting after a man was killed at a Mississippi apartment complex Saturday night.

The Brookhaven Daily Leader reports that police officers with the Brookhaven Police Department are investigating a deadly shooting at an apartment complex on Pennington Street in Brookhaven.

Officials report that a call of “shots fired” came in around 8:05 pm Saturday at the apartments at 209 Pennington Street.

The incident was close to where Pennington intersects with Furr Avenue.

Emergency personnel from King’s Daughter Medical Center were initially dispatched to the scene.

Lincoln County Coroner Blake Wallace confirmed the shooting was fatal following an altercation.

William Young, 23, was shot and killed by an unknown subject. Wallace said the family had been notified.
