Mississippi teen killed in tragic accident while visiting Pennsylvania with his basketball team

A tragic accident in Pennsylvania has claimed the life of a Mississippi teenager.
Quinterrion Smith, 17, who was visiting Pennsylvania with his basketball team, was struck by a vehicle while crossing North Hills Road in Springettsbury Township on July 11 around 10 p.m., according to the York County Coroner’s Office.
Smith, who was with friends at the time, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead just before noon the following day. The coroner’s report confirmed the severity of his injuries.
The driver involved in the incident is cooperating with Springettsbury Township Police as the investigation continues. No charges have been filed at this time, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Coffeeville High School, where Smith was a student, expressed their sorrow in a Facebook post, stating, “It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of Quinterrion Smith, a beloved student here at Coffeeville High School. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. The loss of Quin will be deeply felt by all who knew him.”
The Water Valley School District also released a statement mourning the loss and offering support to those affected. The community is coming together to remember Smith, whose life was tragically cut short while pursuing his passion for basketball.
