A woman was killed in a collision with a Mississippi deputy responding to an emergency call.

Officials with the Lowndes County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Sarah Jackson, 85, of Steens, Mississippi, was killed when her car collided with a Lowndes County Sheriff’s Deputy vehicle.

Officials say the collision happened on Highway 12 as the deputy responded to an emergency call.

Jackson was transported to a local hospital, where she died a short time later from her injuries.
