The annual Double Decker Arts Festival, one of Oxford’s most celebrated events, has been named a “Signature Event of the Southeast” by the Southeast Tourism Society (STS) for the fourth time. This prestigious recognition highlights the festival as one of the region’s top events, showcasing its significant cultural impact.
Each year, travel industry experts with STS select standout events across the United States for this honor. The full list of recognized events is published on the Travel Media Press Room and Escape to the Southeast websites and promoted across all STS social media platforms.
“For more than 40 years, STS has been spotlighting the best festivals and events in the Southeast. Our goal is to highlight the efforts of devoted event organizers and provide additional media exposure and accolades for their events,” said Monica Smith, President and CEO of Southeast Tourism Society. “The Southeast offers so many unique, year-round opportunities for tourists and festivalgoers to create memories and support the tourism industry—a vital economic generator for communities.”
The 2024 Double Decker Arts Festival, held on April 26-27, drew an impressive 100,300 attendees from around the world. The festival featured performances by renowned artists such as Flatland Cavalry and Brittany Howard, alongside art and food vendors, and a dedicated kids’ area.
“Double Decker Arts Festival perfectly captures what makes Oxford so special and only gets better and better every year,” said Kinney Ferris, Executive Director of Visit Oxford. “We are delighted that this event, so dear to us in its 27th year, has been recognized as a Signature Event of the Southeast, allowing us to share Oxford’s rich culture with others.”
To be considered for the STS Signature Events of the Southeast, events must be at least three years old and attract a minimum of 1,000 attendees. Winning events are also automatically entered into the Festival or Event of the Year category for STS’s Shining Example Awards.
