A Mississippi family lost their home in a devastating fire on Thursday night, leaving them with nothing but the clothes on their backs.
The Natchez Democrat reports that the fire broke out at 87 Gaynor Road at around 9:30 p.m., completely destroying the residence. Fortunately, according to Natchez Fire Chief Robert Arrington, no one was injured.
When the initial call came in, there were fears that two children might be inside the house. However, Chief Arrington confirmed that the home was unoccupied when firefighters arrived.
Arrington told The Natchez Democrat that firefighters struggled with water issues. The house was in a remote neighborhood far from water, and the fire was already severe upon our arrival.
The Natchez Fire Department responded with two trucks carrying 1,000 gallons of water. However, they faced challenges due to the location of the nearest hydrant, which was over a mile away and had insufficient water pressure to refill the trucks quickly.
While the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, the homeowner mentioned that they had been experiencing electrical issues in part of the house before the blaze.
