Three dead, eight injured in late night shooting on Mississippi trail ride

A late-night shooting at a trail ride in Holmes County left three people dead and eight others injured, according to authorities.

The incident occurred around midnight Saturday on Highway 17 North following homecoming events for Holmes County Consolidated Schools, Holmes County Sheriff Willie March reported.

Sheriff March stated that an argument among a group of young men escalated into gunfire during the trail ride. The victims were identified as:

The eight injured individuals were treated at local hospitals. Their conditions have not been disclosed.

Law enforcement is actively searching for suspects in connection with the shooting. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is assisting in the case but has announced no additional updates will be provided until Monday.

Holmes County is located approximately 70 miles north of Jackson, the state capital. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
