Search crews were still combing the waters of the Ross Barnett Reservoir in Jackson Monday looking for the father of four who jumped into the water to help retrieve his 5-year-old son, but never resurfaced.

Family members reported that Justin Perkins, 33, had been boating Sunday when he noticed one of his children had floated too far away from their boat. He reportedly jumped into the water, helped get the boy back safely to the boat, then submerged and never resurfaced.

Family members said the man’s son was wearing a floatation device while playing in the water but had strayed far away from the boat.
