Man arrested in death of Mississippi 21-year-old woman

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office has taken into custody Kylan Jacques Phillips in connection with the Thanksgiving Day death of a 21-year-old woman.

Bailey Mae Reed was pronounced deceased Nov. 23 after the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office 911 center received a call at 8:34 p.m. about a potential domestic disturbance at a home on County Road 181.

Responding personnel found Reed unresponsive and gave aid until paramedics and EMTs with Baptist Ambulance and Lafayette County Fire Department arrived. Reed was then pronounced deceased.

Phillips was located on scene and taken into custody by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.  The LCSO reports this is an ongoing investigation, and no other information has been released at this time.

Sheriff Joey East expressed his condolences to the family of Bailey Mae Reed. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of Bailey during this difficult time,” he said. “The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office is dedicated to seeking justice for Bailey and her loved ones.”

Phillips is currently awaiting court appearance for a bond. The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
