One person has been transported to the hospital after being struck by lightning.

WDAM in Hattiesburg reports that officials from Jones County have confirmed that an employee at a company on North Ridge Road in the western part of the county was struck by lightning Friday morning as a series of storms moved across the state.

According to Jones County Emergency Operations Center Director Paul Sheffield, the victim was transported by EMServ Ambulance Service.

The person’s condition is not known at this time.
