One person killed in house fire. ‘Mayday’ call issued after part of roof collapses with firefighters inside.

One person was killed in a Tuesday afternoon house fire.
WTVA News in Tuepelo reports that the fire occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. in New Albany.
According to officials with the New Albany Fire Department, one person was killed after the fire started in a house that was turned into a duplex on Lincoln and Hobson Street.
Other family members who were also inside the house when the fire broke out were able to escape without injury.
A “Mayday” call was issued after part of the house’s roof collapsed while firefighters were battling the blaze inside.
One firefighter received minor burns, but did not seek medical treatment.
The cause of the fire has not been determined, and the victim’s name has not been released.
The fire us under investigation by the State Fire Marshal.
