Mississippi Skies: Great weather arrives for the weekend, but severe storms are on the horizon

Friday’s “blob” in the Gulf brought some heavy rain to parts of the state but didn’t expand quite as much of models were hinting, even up to Thursday night. That means Saturday will end up a pretty fantastic day across the Magnolia State.
Any remaining clouds will move out, learning plenty of sunshine by Saturday afternoon. It’s going to be a great beach day along the Gulf Coast but take caution! The National Weather Service is predicting a high risk of rip tides in the northern Gulf.
Sunday will be another great day for congregations celebrating Palm Sunday with outdoor precessions. We’re still watching a developing low that’s expected to bring the potential for heavy rain statewide Monday, Monday night, and Tuesday.
Most of Mississippi is still under a Level 2 risk for severe weather early in the week. We’ll be able to finalize details on the severe potential Sunday.
