A Mississippi man was arrested for stealing several weapons thanks to help from neighbors and a K-9.

Thursday, witnesses saw a white male attempt to break into a residence in the 500 block of Prospres Ridge Road in Lamar Couty.

Thanks to eyewitnesses and security footage, the suspect was identified. Stolen from the residence were several firearms. A warrant was secured for Anthony Drew Townsend, 36, of Seminary.

The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office patrol and investigation divisions located him hiding under a travel trailer in the area. With the assistance of a LCSO K-9, he was taken into custody.

A hold was also placed on him for the Department of Corrections. The stolen weapons were recovered in some woods on the victim’s property.

“This was solved by observant neighbors and working with law enforcement. Good job to all involved,” a statement from the sheriff’s department reads.
