Parents charged in Mississippi baby’s death

The parents of a Mississippi baby have been arrested in connection with the 4-month old’s death.

Police in Gulfport have arrested Angel Ja’Nai Williams, 24, and Denilson Marcus Elligson, 27.

Elligson has been charged with one count of capital murder and Williams has been charged with one count of hindering prosecution and one count of felony child neglect.

The two were arrested Friday following an investigation into the death of their child on April 23, when officers responded to reports of an unresponsive infant in the 1400 block of Lewis Avenue.

The baby was taken to a local hospital, where it was pronounced dead.

WLOX News in Biloxi reports that Elligson had admitted his involvement in the handling of the child that led to the baby becoming unresponsive. Williams reportedly admitted to covering for Elligson because she did not want him to get into trouble..

The two were processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. Williams’ bond is set at $300,000. Elligson was given no bond.
