Here are Mississippi’s busiest structurally deficient bridges

More than 2,000 bridges in Mississippi are classified as structurally deficient by the Federal Highway Administration, placing the state among the top ten in the nation with the highest number bridges in need of repair.

The American Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) used FHWA data released in 2018 to compile a state-by-state infrastructure analysis, including the most traveled bridges in each state deemed structurally deficient.

Bridges are rated on a zero-to-nine scale (nine being excellent condition). A bridge is deemed “structurally deficient” when a key structural element receives a rating of four or below (poor or worse condition).

The rating doesn’t necessarily mean the structure is unsafe. It does indicate repairs are needed.

Mississippi’s busiest structurally deficient bridges can be found all around the state.
