Mississippi veterans with PTSD could gain right to use service animals in public places

Mississippi veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder could gain access to service animals who could accompany them in public places when needed.

House Bill 944, which would allow for veterans to use service animals to help with their needs in public places, passed Thursday and moves on to the Senate for further debate.

While blind or otherwise impaired people are already allowed to have service animals in businesses, hotels and other public places where needed, the bill would open up the door for veterans with PTSD to have the same accessibility.
