Police say Brandon forced his way into the home of the 54-year-old woman, beat her and tied her up.

Then he went after the granddaughters, both of whom are reportedly under age 12.

Eventually the adult victim managed to free herself enough to reach her telephone and call 911. Investigators said when Reeder saw her with the phone he beat her severely again, said Greg Flynn, public information director for the city of Pearl in a news release.

A Pearl police officer arrived within 2 minutes of the 911 call, Flynn said.

Upon arrival, officer Wilkes Carter apparently heard screams inside the house and, without waiting for backup, forced his way inside where he found the victims.

The girls directed the officers to the attic, where Reader was found hiding, naked.

When officers tried to arrest him, Reeder reportedly fought with them and both the suspect and a police officer fell through the ceiling, Flynn said.

Flynn said police have not made any connection between Reeder and the victims.

The adult victim was hospitalized with serious injuries while the two girls were treated and released.

Reeder is reportedly a felon with a long criminal history.
